Here at the Eco Renewables Group, we are solar power experts. From installation to repair and maintenance, we are solar power specialists. We work with homeowners across the Northwest, from Liverpool to Manchester to deliver high quality, effective and efficient solar power solutions. As a result, we have produced this expert guide to solar PV systems.
What are Solar PV systems
Solar PV panels use solar photovoltaics which are cells that are installed to produce electricity by harvesting energy from the sun. There are two main panel types, monocrystalline and polycrystalline. While the monocrystalline options are more efficient, more expensive and smaller, the polycrystalline panels can be around 20% cheaper. This means that they are more financially affordable than others, but they will produce less electricity than a monocrystalline system.
These PV panels will be used in conjunction with a solar inverter. This is responsible for converting all of the energy produced from the solar panels, into usable electricity. This is because solar panels only produce direct current, and we rely on alternating to power our appliances and homes.
In addition, some solar PV systems will also include battery storage. This means that electricity produced during the day, when you are out at work, can be stored in the battery for you to use at night.
Solar PV cost
A general domestic system of 4kW may cost around £8000 to £12000 depending on your supplier, installer and location. For this reason you should only choose solar installers that have the experience and skills, like us here at the Eco Renewables Group. Our work is also guaranteed, so you don’t need to worry about being ripped off.
